Travel Experience of Gotripperz on a Motorcycle trip from Delhi to Kasol in October and conquered Mini Israel in Parvati Valley, which is near the places like Manali and Manikaran, and now gotripperz has a Bike Ride story to share from Kasol Himachal Road trip

5078-0

Well, it all started in a month of August when one of my friend asked me to join him on a trip to Leh and the plan was to take a leave from office on a week with long weekend of 2nd October and Dussehra holiday. So, me, Haseeb(unfortunately not part of this trip) and Purvang(will be introduced later) planned for our trip to Leh. As we were pulling in any prospective person to get along to share the expenses on the trip, a natural calamity happened in Kashmir and that trip got cancelled. With a very heavy heart, I went and applied for cancellation of my leaves.
The same day I went to my friend's Ashish Sharma's place and we were all having usual non-sense discussion and suddenly he asked me what am I doing on a long weekend. I told him about our cancelled leh trip. Suddenly, we started having discussion of going to some off-beat place. Off-beat because half of the Delhi goes on a vacations on any long weekend. I proposed, let's do a trip on a Bike. As I had an experience of going on bike trips in Himalayas, I gave a suggestion of finding a place, which should be maximum 350 kms from our place. Then the search began, we made a whatsapp group, but to find an off beat place with in 350 kms was next to impossible. Then we raised a cap bit more and started looking for a place, around 400-450 kms. 3-4 days passed, we found nothing. Then we finally zeroed in on Kasol, which was 555 kms from our starting point Gurgaon. Now to cover 555 kms distance require very strict planning and also Bikes should be well serviced for such a distance. Then we decided to leave on wee hours of 2nd October morning i.e. around 3 am we planned to leave. We took the below route on our Journey.

Gurgaon to Kasol route in Himachal Map

Just a weekend before our trip, we took our bikes for servicing in old Gurgaon and got 3 of 4 bikes serviced. Mine is 2008 model Hero Honda Hunk, I straight away asked to replace clutch wire, engine oil, Accelerator wire, Brakes Checkup. It took almost 6-7 hours and appx Rs 1600 to get my bike ready for the trip. As I went to the similar trips in past, I had most of the gears with me. My other friends arranged their gear by shopping online and by buying few stuff from local market.

Finally day arrived and we all knew if we commit 3 am, we would leave around 4 and we finally left at around 5:30 am from Gurgaon. It was a month of October and Late September Early October are best time to visit Kasol, if you ask which is the best month or time to visit Kasol.

So on a travel day we were 4 on our respective bikes.

Day 1:

As I mentioned above, we planned to leave at 3 in the morning but could leave at around 5:30 am in the morning and those 2 hours delay would pinch us badly later in the day. The plan was to cover as much as we could before sun shows us its full red face. We straightaway went to BP Petrol Pump near Huda City Center and in Rs 800 my petrol tank was full. We started and in no time we were on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway. We started cruising at around 70 -75 kmph initially and in the start only we got scattered from each other. Then near mahipalpur flyover my phone rang, one of our gang member Rahul Baba was calling me, I picked up - "Soni, saath mein chalo be kahan nikal gaye, main 80 ki speed se bhaga raha hoon fir bhi pakad nahi paya", I thought he would have left us very far behind because I didn't touch 80 even once till that time. I asked Baba about his location and it was confusing, I told him I would stand there and wait for him for 5 mins and if he doesn't arrive and I would start chasing him. And then after 5 mins Baba arrived  :P  from nowhere. Now we rode for another 2-3 kms and there Sharma & Purvang were waiting for us. There we decided to ride together. It was beautiful morning, sun started to rise and we were riding fresh and without much effort we reached Murthal. We Parked our Bikes in that over crowded place. If you are having a tiring journey and want to relax a bit then I would recommend that you should never stop at Sukhdev dhaba, it is now over crowded for whole 24 hrs. You will need to fight or snatch a chair to sit over there. That's what we did and literally made a guy feel awkward when he was finishing off and we surronded him and started staring at him. He then left half of his tea and left the place. We had nice Aaloo Paranthas with white makkhan and hot tea. We dressed up in our biker costume once again and we were back on road. After Panipat, I started feeling sleepy and was then forced to stop on the road side to get awakened.

So, before Karnal, we took two small breaks and hence didn't stop at Karnal. After 50-60 kms from Karnal we stopped to have lunch. Me and Sharma reached and started waiting for Baba and Purvang and only after 15-20 mins they arrived. The food was pathetic over there, we ordered a masala chaach and what we got a hybrid chaach. The guy actually made masala chaach out of sweet lassi  :o . After having that food, we were back on road left Ambala took a crucial right turn got confused about the way on few occasions but somehow managed the right directions. Then we entered Punjab and 30-40 kms before we enter Himachal Pradesh, the roads are extremely great. I was riding my Hunk on speeds of 90-100 kmph easily and was enjoying those roads and then very small hills and pathetic roads also started. Took few pics when we entered Himachal Pradesh and it was a welcome break because after this, nightmare started.
4938-4  4940-5  4942-6  4944-7

Now the sun was starting to set and we were riding in the hills, trucks were abundant, roads were pathetic and it was a real test of our skills, stamina and energy. Finally it was dark, nothing was visible on the sides but trucks never left us and also those pot holes.Around 8-8:30 we reached Bilaspur. We sat and had our dinner. Now was the time, a very crucial discussion started. We were tired as hell and Asses were paining and so were the arms, back and hands. Baba was not ready to go any further and was of the opinion of taking a room to spend night at Bilaspur itself and Kasol was still around 120-140 kms from there. One thing was certain if we would have stopped there at Bilaspur then it would have been impossible to reach Kasol before evening next day and we would have wasted one full day. I was of the opinion to cover as much as we could and was targetting atleast Mandi. I asked the Dhaba owner about road conditions further on the route. He told us that roads are bad till 10-15 kms from there. We 3 pleaded Baba to ride for an hour more and then wherever we reach we will take a room and stay. We also knew Sunder nagar was the next big town after Bilaspur and it was around 40-45 kms from there. So, we started again on those Bad roads at around 9:30. By that time trucks were very less on the road and it was us only riding 4 bikes. Way was pitch dark and were just following our bike's headlights. After riding for 19 kms from Bilaspur, Baba stopped again asked, "where are we riding now" Sharma came and replied softly "Sunderland" and then at around 11-11:30, we reached Sunderland and we took the first hotel we saw, unknown of the fact that Sunderland was actually a big place and would have got lot many options if we would have rode 4-5 kms more. But we took the hotel, paid Rs 900 for two rooms and those were the worst rooms I have ever stayed in. I didn't have courage to even cover my feet under the blanket in the room. Loo was even bad and needed to close the door to save us from pleasant smell that was coming from it. Finally we decided to leave thee place as early we would and perform daily ritual in some nice and clean place. So, after self record breaking ride of 473 kms, we finally called it a day.
