In the month of June, when Delhi was struggling with Hot Humid weather, we decided to take things in our hand and planned a very short trip to a nearest hillstation from Delhi; Lnasdowne. There was not a liberty of taking leaves and hence we decided to utilize only a weekend and the only nearest hillstation from Delhi that pops up in all the search results is Lansdowne, which is just 250 odd kms and 6-7 hours drive from Delhi.

So, we planned to leave Gurgaon by early evening to reach Lansdowne by midnight. We had our ride (or should I say our drive?) ready to roll in hills, Baleno would be traversing those nice curves in hills for next two days. Just in the afternoon, I shared my plan in The Himalayan Club, a very active group on Facebook, of leaving for Lansdowne in the evening. Suddenly my post got flooded with responses, few encouraged me to go ahead, some adviced me to be cautious of driving on road to Lansdowne and majority advised me not to travel in night because of wild animals, roads to Lansdowne go through a sensitive area and also it would be difficult to search for an accommodation in Lansdowne so late. Those all responses discouraged me to start in evening and then the crew of 3 agreed to leave at wee hours next day.

We couldn't sleep in the night and two from 3 elected to leave at 3 am in the morning from Gurgaon as we thought of reaching Lansdowne well before noon. We were surprised to find a good amount of traffic and somehow we crossed Delhi and entered Ghaziabad.

We someehow missed a right turn to Lansdowne as we missed the sign board for taking a right turn to Lansdowne, thanks to ruling party sticked it's own poster on an important sign board. We found ourselves taking a long route and reached Haridwar and then took another route from Rishikesh to Lansdowne and finally at around 11 am, we reached Lansdowne. My initial observation on Lansdwone was that it's not actually a place, it's a stretch, where you can find any hotel or resort and just relax there in awesome atmosphere. Our own Homestay Whispering Bamboo was about 5 kms from main Lansdowne.

After checking in, we slept for 3-4 hours to wake up in the evening and then we went to the Market in Lansdowne, it was a decent market and you can buy necessities and can have a decent food over there. After coming back from Market, we had a good time there in our home stay.

Awesome weather and time spent at Lansdowne:

So, we checked in at our home stay at Whispering Bamboo in Lansdowne, if I have to write a short review of the Home stay / Hotel, whispering Bamboo, then it would go like: It was a bit expensive hotel, when you book it through online portals and we got a room booked for around 4000 for a night and it was still a fair deal considering it was a peak season. Place is managed by a family and with very limited staff and hence there was a very limited room service but otherwise the rooms were very comfortable and provide great views to the valley and you will spend a good time relaxing there.

Few pics of our room at Whispering Bamboo, Landowne:

Next day, we woke up and today was the day to explore Lansdowne a bit to visit some nearby places like Tip in Top View Point, St. Mary's Church etc. and then finally visiting Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple, which is around 20-25 kms from Lansdwone.

Tip in Top View Point, some people say that Nepal border is also visible from this view point

Finally after visiting the temple and having a lunch after visiting the temple, we started our journey back to Gurgaon from Lansdowne leaving behind this weather
