Dharamshala, along with Mohali, hosts IPL matches as a one of the home venue for Kings XI Punjab. Now, when I heard that, in 2011 season, there is a match between Kings XI and Delhi Daredevils and that too on a weekend, I  smelled a great opportunity for making a 4 day Trip out of it. Without any second thoughts I called two of my friends from college days I had been planning a trip with them since we passed out of College in 2008. With still a month to go and with someone else taking an initiative to plan a trip they said yes. Then It was time to invite few more for the trip and I called my other friends an ex college mate and now an office colleague and other an early office days roommate. So we were a group of five now. And we all took two leaves in addition to the weekend. And then the excitement and planning started

Our group for the trip Starting from Left :
1.   Sourabh Chhabra(Left most)
2.   Jitender Khattar
3.   My Self
4.   Gaurav Karwal
5.   Vishal Verma
222-0

Just after getting a nod from every body, I booked 5 IPL tickets for Rs 650 each because with this amount on stake nobody would dare backing out at last moment with an excuse.
After that and with due respect I gave an opportunity to my other friends to book railway tickets till Pathankot, but those lazy heads were not even interested and when they saw it would be really late and births were slipping out of our hands we finally reserved railway tickets.. really ‘booked’. Gone are the days when AC coaches used to be a matter of luxury but now a days these coaches fill faster than sleeper coaches. So, we got Ten in waiting list at the time of booking and on the day of departure, we got lucky but not lucky enough and our tickets got converted to just RAC only. RAC means that we would be getting those side births and will be sharing each birth with another person. To our misery some how we managed to smell each other's socks ..but the joy was enough to override any problem.
224-1 226-2 230-3  232-4

And then our misery ended when we finally reached Pathankot.
234-5

Day 1.
We got out from railway station and started looking for a taxi or a bus to Dharamshala.. Now Delhites consider themselves smartest of the lot and so did we.. Cab drivers were asking 4000 to 5000 to take us to Dharamshala.. We didn’t knew the price but yes even 4000 for 80-90 odd kms was too much. So we ‘smart’ people took Auto for just a walking distance of half Kilometer to Bus stand for 120... but what’s the fun in getting out of your own city and you dont get looted and fooled by someone.
At bus stand we got to know that next bus to Dshala will be after 3 hrs, So again we started looking for cab outside bus stand and this time we negotiated Smartly I think.. We settled for only for Rs 1600.

When we were waiting at Bus Stand
236-6

Then we started our journey till Dharamshala.
238-7 240-8 242-9 244-10 246-11  248-12  250-13  252-14

We were starving and were damn hungry and thus stopped at a Dhaba for breakfast.
254-15

Next time we stopped because of under construction road.
256-16

But there we found our first shooting spot at the river flowing under the bridge.
258-17 260-18

awesome read...
a journey can never be perfect if it has everything...as planned :) typically in train journey...chhook chhook, chhuk chhuk...chhook chhook, chhuk chhuk... ...especially if it is with school, college best friends...
the himalayans (lower) are one of the most beautiful spots to visit by train...
planning IPL on those grounds is another bold decision; its really beautiful to watch beautiful cricket matches on those high grounds...and such corners of India...
there nothing better than a dhaba..when real hungry...probably can eat almost all items...
Dharamshala & Mcleodganj are beautiful places to visit in moderate-to slight winter climate...photogenic natural sceneries are pictureque...

How we rescued Mr. Chhabra!  :P

While on our way to DharamShala, a funny incident occurred but not for the protagonist of this chapter or the Victim(Actually a Shit Happened for him). In the below pic, you can see a person standing(Our lovely Mr. Sourabh Chhabra) on a rock. This was the effect of one chilled bottle of a beer. After that our Mr. Chhabra was on the rocks and miscalculated the distance between two rocks in the river and jumped to crash land on his ass on destined rock, on which he is standing in the pic below. And then in pain he realized that he cant do that crash landing stunt again to come back on the home rock and then the rescue operation started. Finally after half an hour of rigorous planning, we successfully rescued a half naked person alive.

Before Jumping(Enjoying himself alone in his own world), "I had a beer, I give damn to this shitty world" 8)

Before reaching Dharamshala, we had to collect match tickets from the stadium, one day ahead of the much. At the ticket collection counter I suddenly realized one of my dumbest act ever and for which my four monsterous friends would have killed me easily[/size]. The dumb act is as follows, "When anybody book a ticket through Book my show a credit card holder and credit card, both should be present at the time of collection of ticket and what I did, I was not carrying my Credit card with me, I left it at my home to keep it safe". I was cursing myself and as expected, a person at ticket counter simply refused to hand over me the tickets without a Credit card. I literally begged to him but he was not even listening my plead, I tried to convince him very hard that how could I get my credit card from Delhi now. Suddenly an Idea stuck me, I convinced him to the point If I could arrange a FAX copy of Credit card. He said Ok bring the FAX. With God watching us, we found a shop where I could receive a FAX. I called my home and my mom faxed me the CC’s copy and Finally I saved myself from getting kicked or Killed, by collecting tickets successfully. At the time of doing tiring Up down... Up down to get Fax and match tickets from Dharamshala stadium.

After collecting tickets, we straightaway went to Mcloedgunj after collecting the tickets because Dharamshala was very hot that day and we thought of getting some cold place to stay. And when we reached Mcloedgunj it was pretty chaotic with so many tourists and visitors. An IPL match was certainly a big occasion for this tourist destination. One could easily identify an IPL fever in Dharamshala and Mcloedganj. We finally landed in a hotel for Rs900 a room in Bhangsunag near Mcloedganj. That hotel and hotel owner were also fun and...and that story, I cant share on the public stage though. After reaching the hotel and getting refreshed we went to Mcldganj Market and a special Mention of YANKYI Kitchen is required because it had the awesomest veg. Momos ever and worst Lime Soda ever. In that lime soda, we tried an experiment and got to know with the mixing of sugar also a carbonated drink can overflow.

Below pics shows rest of the story for the day

Day 2.. The morning of next day, we all woke up at 6 am and a light hike to waterfall and Shiva Cafe was waiting our trekking shows. There is a very easy trail built to reach waterfall, but on my special request we all took the other trail not actually a trail but marching our trek by jumping from one big rock to another in a river till we reached waterfall.

This was our way to waterfall with waterfall not in the view until this point
